On March 28-29, during the “Litexpo” exhibition “Careers & Studies in Lithuania 2024”, the final round of the national part of the EU Young Scientists competition will take place.

Which of the students will win the national part and get the opportunity to represent Lithuania in the most prestigious European competition for young scientists – will be revealed on March 29.

Also, at the “Careers & Studies in Lithuania 2024” exhibition, the Lithuanian Non-formal Education Agency (LINEŠA) will present the “My view of the world” competition for young scientists.

A total of 122 students from all over Lithuania will participate in the finals of both competitions. Their works will be presented at 80 stands.

March 28 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. visitors to the exhibition will have the opportunity to chat live with the participants of both competitions presenting their works at the stands and get to know the most fantastic ideas of young Lithuanian scientists.

The European Union Young Scientists Competition is the most important student science fair in the European Union, which is already in its 35th year and attracts thousands of participants. The competition encourages young people to pursue a career in the field of science and technology.

Every year, the event gathers the most promising and talented students, and the competition’s requirements for the quality of the projects meet the requirements for scientific research. All European countries participate in the competition, as well as the USA, Israel, Turkey, South Korea and others.

In the national part of the competition, the participants are evaluated by a commission made up of scientists from Lithuanian universities and scientific institutes.

The winners of the national stage of the EU Young Scientists Competition get the opportunity to represent Lithuania at the EU Young Scientists Competition organized by the European Commission every year, at the Swiss Talent Forum, and at the International Nature Research Week, as well as at other international events.

The authors of the most innovative works are awarded the special prize of the World Intellectual Property Organization (PINO) nominated by the long-standing partner of the competition – the State Patent Office of the Republic of Lithuania, and other prizes established by it.

Works from all scientific fields are accepted for the competition. It is open to students in grades 7-12.

26 scientific research projects have been selected for the final part of this year in Lithuania. They will be presented at the exhibition by authors who will communicate with the visitors of the exhibition and tell them about their research.

March 29 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Litexpo will host the awards ceremony for the winners of the national part of the European Union Young Scientists competition.

The competition for young scientists “My view of the surrounding world” is an event for students in grades 3-8, where children will show their research or engineering work in the fields of nature, technology, medicine and health or agricultural science.

87 students and 38 of their teachers will present the 53 best works in the final part of the competition.

March 28 16-17 hours Litexpo will host the awards ceremony for the winners of the National competition “My view of the surrounding world”.

About the Lithuanian Non-formal Education Agency (LINEŠA):

LINEŠA is a budgetary institution subordinate to the Ministry of Education, Science and Sports, which provides assistance in the implementation of state policy in the areas of non-formal education and career development of children.
