One of the issues X faces is hate speech. The platform is dependent on advertising revenue, and companies don’t want their brands to appear next to posts that incite violence or contain anti-Semitic slogans.

The issue of hate speech and other material of an extremist nature will now be dealt with by head of security, Kylie McRoberts. Meanwhile, Yale Cohen, who once worked in the advertising industry, will be tasked with making the platform more attractive to companies, X said on Tuesday.

Since Musk bought Twitter in the fall of 2022, the platform’s revenue has halved. The tech billionaire promised radical freedom of speech on the X platform – within the bounds of the law, of course.

The focus, he said, is on significantly limiting the sharing of problematic content, rather than removing it. After the platform passed into new hands, two security officers left their jobs.

A few months ago, researchers of online platforms showed that advertisements for well-known brands can appear next to anti-Semitic posts. E. Musk answered that such examples were created artificially and do not reflect the real situation of daily use of the platform.

Since then, several large advertising clients have limited or canceled their advertising on the X platform. Linda Yaccarino, Musk’s appointed head of Platform X, is trying to convince them that the platform creates an environment where their brands can be safe.
