Amazon.com Inc. to invest another $2.75 billion dollars to artificial intelligence startup Anthropic, which in 2021 was founded by former OpenAI employees in a deal concluded last year, according to Bloomberg.

The total amount of Amazon’s investment in Anthropic, taking into account this amount, as well as the investment announced by the company last September, will reach 4 billion. dollars.

The deal will allow the startup to use an Amazon Web Services data center to run some of its operations, as well as dedicated AWS processors. Notably, Anthropic has also committed to using Google’s chips.

Last May, Google joined Anthropic for $450 million. US dollar funding round led by Spark Capital. Google and AWS are Anthropic cloud computing partners.

Anthropic has created Claude, an AI-based chatbot. In March of this year the third version of Claude was released, which outperformed OpenAI counterparts in many benchmarks.

Claude’s 3 family models Haiku, Sonnet, and Opus feature enhanced context understanding capabilities as well as improved analytics and prediction capabilities.
