A new song for the artists Atikin and Your Highness was born from personal experiences: I was ashamed of my work

“My girlfriend and I decided to do a photo shoot, and our photographer was Deimanta’s best friend, who showed me his work. I thought I would like to meet “Your Highness” as well. Soon, we began to develop joint plans, and now we are presenting the first implemented plan to our listeners,” said Nikita.

The video clip of the song “Red Cup” depicts a classic case of a person working in an office that he doesn’t like. Here is a picture of a girl who is in a hurry to relax in her own way every Friday – she likes to forget, to get laid in a night club.

“I think that this way of life can cause even bigger psychological problems. It is very difficult for such people to make friends with reality. After all, most of their life is not a beloved activity, but a tiring job. Despite this, we are a little lower in the social circle, so the girl feels superior to us, she doesn’t even pay attention,” explained Nikita Vaitkevičius-Atikin.

In the clip, Atikin plays a taxi driver. The girl gets into the car and doesn’t even want it to open. Meanwhile, “Your Highness” becomes a food courier here.

This song and video was born out of the duo’s personal experiences. The two artists have also had to work in jobs that did not coincide with their aspirations to become famous in music. Atikin, who lived across the Atlantic for many years and was engaged in rap creation, told what he was doing when he was barely located in Los Angeles.

“I had to work as a furniture mover. Then I started dating a girl from a relatively wealthy family. I was so ashamed of my work – I wanted her to think I was a successful rapper. However, this was not the case. When she asked me how I make money, it was very difficult for me to get over myself and tell the truth. She was not very pleasantly surprised when I finally took the plunge. I remember saying: “I thought you made a living from music.” Of course, I was somewhat offended. But in the end, she was just happy that I was open,” Nikitin shared his story.

Meanwhile, “Your Highness” had to work in a hotel restaurant. Working at night was particularly emotional. It is said that at that time he used to meet face to face with girls who looked down on him.

“I remember very well when I worked in a hotel restaurant. I had to carry food orders to the rooms at night. Girls often stayed there, possibly living off the men’s pockets. It was easy to understand that these were escort workers. I remember taking that food to their rooms, and they accepted me as a friend who was completely harmless and didn’t pretend to be anything more. They didn’t take me seriously. Then I used to think: “Wait, after 5-10 years we will meet again”, Deimantas shared his memory.

The duo is already preparing for their first joint performances – they will present their joint summer-sounding EP “Oasis”. April 26 they are waiting for a concert in Klaipėda, in the club “Krantas”, and on May 11 performers invite the people of Vilnius to the club “Pavilionas”.
