Kensington Palace usually releases portraits of the Welsh children in the early hours of the morning to mark their birthdays, but fans were left disappointed this morning when there were no pictures of the six-year-old on the social media accounts of the Princes of Wales, Catherine and William.
Breaking with tradition, the Princes of Wales shared a photo of their youngest son this afternoon, rather than midnight as usual. It is understood the picture was released later than usual as the family go through an “unprecedented” period.
“Happy sixth birthday, Prince Louis!” Thank you for all the nice wishes,” was added to the photo.
The photo was taken on the grounds of Adelaide Cottage by Prince Louis’ mother, the Princess of Wales, who usually captures her children’s birthday portraits. This suggests that after recovering from chemotherapy, she is feeling well enough to pick up the camera again.
Smiling, the young prince looks much taller in the photo. This was also noticed by fans who rushed to congratulate him in the comments. This beautiful celebration allowed some attention to be diverted from the Princess of Wales, Catherine Middleton, who is currently undergoing treatment for cancer.
As a reminder, mother-of-three Catherine revealed in March that she is undergoing preventive chemotherapy for an as-yet undisclosed type of cancer.
