Unfortunately: the Lithuanian 3×3 national team lost to the Netherlands in the Olympic qualifying final

The Lithuanian 3×3 national team lost the final of the Olympic selection, where 15:19 fell to the Dutch trio.

The Lithuanians started the final a bit better (3:2), although they could not pull away more, and the Dutch outweighed the result – 4:3. Š. Vingelis and A. Pukelis did not use their chances, and E. Dziaugys left the field after receiving a blow to the stomach. The Netherlands is far away (8:4), but A. Pukelis responded with points with a foul – 6:8. The difference melted (7:8), and D.Tarvydas equalized the result with a layup – 9:9.

With five and a half minutes left, E. Dziaugys put the Lithuanians ahead (10:9), but it didn’t last long – the Netherlands took over the initiative – 14:11. Lithuanians had a hard time getting close (12:16), important shots by D.Tarvydas did not reach the goal, and there were 2 minutes left to play. Through them, the Dutch secured the victory. A. Pukelis still tried to save the Lithuanians (15:18), but our people did not create a miracle in 36 seconds.

D.Tarvydas and A.Pukelis scored 6 points each for Lithuania, E.Dziaugys 2 and Š.Vingelis 1.

Jan Driessen and Arvin Slagter each scored 6 points for the Netherlands, Worthy De Jong 4, Dimeo van der Horst 3.

Only the Dutch winners of the tournament will go to the Paris Games.

Even if this selection does not take place, the Lithuanians still have a backup option – on May 16-19, an additional selection will be held in Debrecen, where 16 national teams will compete for the three remaining tickets.

Only eight of the world’s best national teams will compete in the Olympics, Serbia, defending champion Latvia, China and the United States of America (USA) have secured their places.

The Lithuanian 3×3 national team won the semi-final of the Olympic selection, but it was not easy 21:15 broke the men of France.

In the match that started with no result, the teams struggled to collect the first points – 1:1. The Lithuanians started to pull away little by little and after a layup by Darius Tarvydas they led 4:1. The French began to chase (5:6), and finally equalized the result – 8:8. D.Tarvydas collected important points again (10:8), but Alex Vialaret responded with a long shot – 10:10.

With 4 minutes remaining, the French scored the result (11:10), but not for long, as Evaldas Dziaugys shot from a distance – 13:12. Aurelijus Pukelis also added an important long throw (15:13), and the Lithuanians were slowly getting closer to victory – 17:14.

With 2 minutes left, Š.Vingelis added one penalty out of two (18:14), and soon he added a long shot – 20:14. The last minute was ticking and Lithuania’s victory was guaranteed by Š.Vingelis – 21:15.

E.Dziaugys and Š.Vingelis scored 7 points each for Lithuania, D.Tarvydas 4, A.Pukelis 3.
