Eurovision kicks off with a turquoise carpet: Sylvester Belt, drag queens, but no Israel | Names

The appearance on the turquoise carpet is one of the main events in the city hosting the competition. This is the official opening ceremony marking the start of the Eurovision Song Contest’s week of live performances.

The representatives of Belgium are the first to step on the carpet, and the hosts of the event, Sweden, are the last, thus closing the event.

Although representatives of 37 countries will appear in Eurovision this year, only 36 will be on the carpet. We will not see the representative of Israel on the carpet, she decided not to participate, because she is commemorating Holocaust Remembrance Day.

Eurovision participants are greeted and interviewed on the carpet drag queens Electra and Tia Kofi.

Walking the turquoise carpet, Silvester Belt surprised with his subtle yet creative style. He wore a white suit while his team wore black and their faces were covered.

As S.Belt said, the image for the team was created by a Lithuanian designer living in London. When asked if his team is not hot, the performer assured that beauty can be put in effort.

“I think it might be hot, but anything can be done for beauty,” S. Belt smiled.

The performer assured that he felt like he was in a movie on the carpet.

“It’s very strange, everyone is dressed up, beautiful. It seems like I’m in some kind of movie, it’s a very strange feeling,” said the artist.
