In an interview with NBC News, Volodymyr Zelensky also spoke about Russia’s immediate plans. According to the President of Ukraine, on Victory Day, Russia will try to capture the city of Chasiv Yar, located in the Donetsk region. Russia celebrates the so-called Victory Day on May 9.
On Saturday, after long debates, the US House of Representatives passed the 60.8 billion US dollar support package for Ukraine. This decision was also approved by the country’s senate, so, as political commentators agree, only one formality remained before the approval of the decision – Joe Biden’s signature.
Politicians of Western countries were happy with such news, while Kremlin politicians poured their anger and threats on social networks.
The US-based Institute for the Study of War (ISW) explained that the first military equipment included in the support package will reach the Ukrainians only in a few weeks. Analysts warn that the situation on the frontline will continue to deteriorate in the short term, while Russian forces try to use their last chance to advance before the US aid package reaches Ukraine.
