Lithuanian historian Liudas Truska died. History teacher Algis Bitautas announced the loss on his Facebook account on Saturday.

Lithuanian historian Liudas Truska died. History teacher Algis Bitautas announced the loss on his Facebook account on Saturday.

According to A. Bitaut, L. Truska “was one of the most popular figures during the Movement, who could have easily been a politician, but sacrificed his whole life for history.”

It will be possible to say goodbye to the deceased on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the funeral home on Olandų street.

L. Truska was born in Petroškai (Veisiejų vlsč.), Lazdijai district.

He graduated from Vilnius University in 1959.

He worked at the Institute of History of the Lithuanian Academy of Sciences, Vilnius University, Vilnius Pedagogical University, Vytautas the Great University and the Genocide and Resistance Research Center of the Lithuanian Population.

In 1998-2008, he was the executive chairman and sub-commission chairman of the International Commission to Assess the Crimes of the Nazi and Soviet Occupation Regimes in Lithuania.
