The price of drinking water is decreasing in Kaunas

For apartment residents, the tariff for drinking water supply and sewage treatment services will decrease from 2.52 to 2.07 EUR/m³ with VAT, for residents of individual houses – from 2.48 to 2.03 EUR/year³ with VAT, the price for legal entities varies from 2.59 to 2.14 EUR/month^3, including VAT. The tariff for surface wastewater management services for companies will increase by 6 cents (from 0.17 to 0.23 EUR/m³ with tax).

In the resolution adopted this week, the State Regulatory Council (VERT) stated that the main reasons for the price change of “Kaunos vandenės” services are cheaper electricity, reduced costs for technological fuel, etc.

“The situation in the markets of energy resources and raw materials makes it worth looking for quick and efficient solutions to amortize the prices of services. Based on the price of electricity on the stock exchange, we determined the most efficient operating modes of the pumping stations, invested in efficient water pumps and water transfer devices. We didn’t limit ourselves to that – we also invested in renewable energy resources, electric cars, we produce part of our electricity from sewage sludge collected in treatment plants, which accumulates around 50 tons every day”, said the company’s manager Ramūnas Šulskus about the challenges of recent years.
