“Vējukas” electric scooters of the small community (MB) appeared in Rokiškis last year just before St. Easter – April 7 Their owner, Darius Kilbauskas, who was interviewed at the beginning of March this year, doubted that it would be possible to repeat last year’s experience and, in the best case, promised to bring electric scooters to the city in May. However, the situation turned out to be a bit different, and on the warm days of the last weekend, the green and white scooters of Zarasi already lined up in Rokiški.
The situation has changed
When asked a month ago when we will see “Vējukos” scooters again in Rokiškis, D. Kilbauskas assured that it is not yet time for them: “After all, it is still cold outside, and a scooter is the kind of entertainment for which you want warmer weather. If we bring them and they stand, it will not benefit us or you. I can’t be specific today, but without May. I doubt whether we will come. Well, unless there is a very warm April.”
And so it happened: after forecasters predicted a particularly warm Easter weekend, 20 scooters were again lined up near the municipality of Rokiškis district.
He does not know if he will fill it
Recalling last season, the interviewer said that it was nothing special: the residents of Rokiškės used electric scooters more actively, sometimes more passively, and 30 of these vehicles were left in the city.
This year, D. Kilbauskas said he will monitor the situation: “For now, there are 20 units. If the summer is good and there are riders, we will bring more. We can collect everyone from other cities and leave them in Rokišky (smiles – author’s post). However, I don’t think that is necessary. For now, 20 is definitely enough. We will monitor the situation.”
It will not be allowed to leave it in the yard
As last year, the “bases” of electric scooters will be located: near the district municipality, near the Velykalnis tennis court, in the city center near the Tourism Information Center.
True, this year the owner said that he will arrange the “stops” around the sleeping area, because the Rokiškės themselves dictated the right places for them.
However, here the director of MB “Vējukas” put on certain safeguards: “Scooters will not be allowed to be left in the courtyards of apartment buildings. The app itself will not allow you to do this. Drop-off is possible at the “Circle K” and “Viada” gas stations, at the “Senukai” and “Aibė” shopping centers, as well as at the roundabout. There will be a circle around apartment buildings.”
According to the interviewer, it is also not possible to park scooters in the central city square near the Independence Monument.
The price went up
Those who like to ride scooters and actively used “Vējukos” scooters last year will have to open their wallets a little wider this year. After starting last year with a price of 16 cts for 1 minute, this year the service has been slightly more expensive – a minute of riding a scooter will cost 22 cts.
The principle of using scooters remains the same: download a mobile app to your mobile phone, make a payment and go.
True, this year D. Kilbauskas said that he will also offer an innovation: “We will offer Rokiškės a daily or weekly rental plan. The app already allows this feature, but we’re still reviewing pricing, so I can’t be specific about prices. I can say that the person ordering the service will get a set number of unlocks and minutes, and the service will be valid for all scooters in the city. Will not be ‘tied’ to one specific one.’
According to the interviewee, it has already been tested in other cities, and it works extremely well in Visaginas: couriers actively use it, people go to work, children go to school.
