The round of 16 continues in the Nostra.lt-RKL championship. On March 28, the first playoff match between Kaunas “Žalgiris-3” and Vilnius “Ryto-MRU” took place in the championships, as well as five more matches of the round of 16 of the B division.
Division A
Young Žalgiris players stunned their main rival at home
The first victory in the round of 16 was won by the basketball players of Kaunas “Žalgirio-3”, who at home 81:63 (19:22, 21:14, 23:9, 18:18) beat Vilnius “Ryto-MRU” team.
The result was three victories in the series 1:0.
The intrigue in the match lasted for two halves. The people of Vilnius managed to gain a 3-point lead (22:19) after the first quarter, but in the second quarter, the people of Kaunas took the initiative and overturned the result (40:36).
After the break, the Žalgiris players played a wonderful 10 minutes, during which they allowed their opponents to score only 9 points and thus gained a crushing advantage (63:45).
During the entire fourth quarter, the difference between the teams hovered around 20 points, and the Kaunas team recorded its first victory in the round of 16.
Mantas Kočanas scored 21 points, Gvidas Gicevičius scored 13, Jokūbas Rudaitis added 12 points.
Ignas Urbonas scored 18 points for Vilnius, Titas Pundinas scored 15, Aistis Lukoševičius added 8 points.
The winner of this pair will meet the Kėdainiai Sports Center team in the quarterfinals.
The second match of this series will take place on March 30, in Vilnius.
Division B
The favorites achieved their first victories in the series
The secured victory at home was achieved by the league record holder “Milasta” of Birštonas, which 94:72 (19:18, 23:11, 27:24, 25:19) surpassed Pakruojo SC-Lygumu ŽŪB.
In the series up to 2 victories, the result became 1:0.
The hosts began to prove their superiority in the second half, during which they built up a double-digit lead (42:29).
After the break, the Birštonas club only increased its advantage until it was crushed.
Laurynas Miknevičius scored 21 points, Ovidijus Varanauskas scored 20, and Ignas Bilinskas added 13 points.
Aras Jukna scored 21 points, Paulius Vilkas scored 14, Egitas Latanauskas added 13 points for the Pakruo team.
The second match of the series will take place on March 30, in Pakruoji.
The winner of this pair will meet the winner of the Gargžda sport center and Anykščiai KKSC-“Elmis” pair in the quarterfinals. This series will start on March 29.
Radviliškis KK “Radviliškis-ŠSPC”, the winner of Group B of Division B, also started the round of 16 victoriously, which at home 91:81 (22:21, 24:22, 25:19, 20:19) coped with “Ežerūn” from Molėtai.
In the series up to two victories, the result became 1:0.
The first half of the match was dominated by an even game and the home team managed to gain a fragile advantage (46:43).
After the break, the Radviliškis team managed to build up a slightly safer lead (71:62), and in the fourth quarter, the guests from Molėtai were the closest to their rivals by a distance of 9 points.
The Radviliškis club, which controlled the situation for sure at the end of the match, took the lead in the series.
Aivaras Kvederavičius scored 17 points for the winners, Lukas Pipiras scored 15, Almantas Pakarklis and Liudas Radavičius added 13 points each.
For “Ežerūn”, Gytis Sutkus scored 19 points, Edvinas Slabaševičius scored 15, Marius Valkauskas added 14 points.
The series of these teams started on March 29, in Molėtai.
The winner of this pair will meet the winners of the “Saulė-ŠSG” series of Jonavas sports center and Šiauliai KA in the quarterfinals. There 1:0 Jonavis in front.

The people of Vilnius posed a serious challenge to their rivals. After two quarters, the teams were separated by just one point (41:40), and after three – only 4 points (70:66).
However, the hosts managed to prove their superiority in the fourth quarter, where they gained a double-digit advantage.
At the beginning of the quarter, the guests had reduced the deficit to 6 points (72:66), but since then the Skudos club ran and ran away from their opponents.
Denas Andriuškevičius scored 19 points for the winners, Julius Kryževičius and Gytautas Kibelkis scored 15 each, Laurynas Andrijauskas added 10 points.
The 27 points of Mantas Liutkevičius did not save the Vilnius team, Aironas Urbanovič scored 15, Kipras Redeckas added 12 points.
The second match of the series will take place in Vilnius on March 30.
The winner of this pair will meet Trakai-MAGNUS and the winner of the VDU-2 pair. This series has also already started and a crushing victory was achieved by the Trakai team, which is at home 95:67 (30:15, 24:16, 18:17, 23:19) crushed their rivals.
The hosts settled matters in the match even before the long break. Having scored 54 points in the first half of the match, the basketball players of “Trakai-MAGNUS” gained a 23-point lead and did not let it go until the end of the match.
In the first match of the series, Rokas Jukonis scored 25 points, Vincent Adomaitis scored 17, Laurynas Kirlys added 13 points.
For the losers, Nojus Lebskas scored 19 points, Žygymantas Sabaliauskas scored 12, Steponas Baltrušaitis added 10 points.
The second match of the series will take place on April 4 in Kaunas.
“Druskininkai” club, which played a great match, became the only team to win away from home in Thursday’s match.
Pupils of Nerijas Varnelis 94:69 (27:13, 18:34, 11:31, 13:16) crushed KTU basketball players.
Even more impressive is the fact that the visitors had a 14-point deficit (13:27) after the first quarter.
However, the second and third quarters turned the game upside down. The “Druskininkai” team won this 20-minute section with the result of 65:29 and got away from the rivals no longer (78:56). During the decisive quarter, the picture on the field did not change, and after achieving the victory, “Druskininkai” took over the advantage of the home field.
Justinas Žirlys scored 20 points for the winners, Edgaras Švelginas and Darius Kibildis scored 18 each, Mantas Kibildis added 10 points.
For the KTU team, Mantvydas Kalinauskas scored 12 points, Ainaras Budginas, Vincas Aleknavičius and Elvinas Antanaitis scored 9 each.
The second match of the series will be held in Druskininkai on March 29.
We remind you that the Nostra.lt-RKL A division final four will be held on May 3-4, in Kėdainiai, and on April 19-20 – the B division final four.
