Before Easter – mayonnaise review: Audra shares which is the healthiest

--

“Healthy eating is my daily pursuit. I try to avoid added sugar as much as possible in my diet. I never use it when cooking myself. And three years ago I created a Facebook group called “No added sugar”. It is intended for “sugar-free” enthusiasts, that is, people who want to reduce their consumption of added sugar, learn about sugar alternatives, and better understand the impact of sugar on health. In this group, you can also find recipes without added sugar,” says the woman from Vilnius.

With this activity, the woman aims to contribute at least somewhat to a healthier lifestyle for the people of Lithuania: “Education about added sugar is my volunteer activity.”

Before Easter, the woman decided to look into mayonnaise. Audra collected information from product labels in stores and/or information about those products published on the Internet. Systematized the information and shared it with like-minded people in the group.

The table lists the products from the product with the least sugar to the one with the most. It is also noted which products contain no added sugar at all.

The review in the group attracted a lot of interest.

“The members of the group thank you for the shared information, share their mayonnaise recipes, recommend the mayonnaise they buy themselves, etc.,” says Audra.

In addition to mayonnaise, the interviewer has already prepared reviews of other products: black bread, light bread, ketchup, cottage cheese.

The woman notes that these reviews certainly do not include all products in that category on the market.

“I review most of the products in that category. If someone from the group’s readers finds something extra, for example, mayonnaise without added sugar, which was not mentioned in the review, then they just put it in the comments, “he says.

Kalvaitytė is happy that her efforts are changing the lives of others – some people have already changed their purchases of high-sugar products to healthier, lower-sugar foods.

“I do not consider myself a specialist in healthy nutrition – I certainly am not and do not plan to be one. I don’t create nutrition plans, I don’t give advice, I just organize information that is accessible to all people and present it in a simple and convenient way so that people can see the products and know which ones have less sugar and which ones have more. The created tables can be used as a preparation when going to the store to choose a product – it will help you to choose a healthier product faster, apart from reading the labels”, says A. Kalvaitytė.

In the future, the woman plans to review other products.
