Certain checkers have moved. According to journalists surrounding Formula 1, Adrian Newey will leave the Red Bull team, which may affect the future of Max Verstappen.

The German daily “F1-Insider” announces that a meeting is planned between Mercedes executives and Max Verstappen’s clan after the Miami GP, which will take place next weekend.

The Mercedes team should be represented at the meeting by team manager Toto Wolff, general manager Ola Kallenius and one of the shareholders, Sir Jim Ratcliffe (INEOS).

Verstappen is expected to make a decisive decision after the meeting, F1-Insider adds.

The Dutch world champion has a simple clause in his contract regarding Helmut Marko.

The 80-year-old consultant has the decisive word. If he did not stand in the way of Verstappen, then the Dutchman would have every right to change the team. But, above all, the Dutchman wants to make sure how serious Mercedes’ future project is.

F-1 Insider also adds that money is irrelevant for the world champion in this situation. Even if money were an issue, Mercedes has it at its disposal, so it won’t be a major issue in potential negotiations.

Mercedes would like to make M. Verstappen their face and ambassador. Lewis Hamilton will have such a role in the Ferrari team with a new contract.
