Chaos at the European Championship awards: the Russian national anthem was suddenly switched off, and the Irish national anthem was mixed up with the Lithuanian national anthem

The European Boxing Championship ended in Belgrade (Serbia), where Lithuania won the bronze medal Anna Starovoitova.

The Lithuanian won the medal in the weight category up to 60 kg with a result in the quarterfinals 5:0 (29:28, 29:28, 29:28, 30:27, 29:28) beat the Spaniard Sheila Martinez Perez. During the award ceremony, the announcer announced that A. Starovoitova will not appear and will receive her medal later. However, the directors of the broadcast misunderstood that information and announced that A. Starovoitova received the bronze, and not the Irish woman who actually came to the ceremony. For this reason, Russian flags were displayed and the country’s national anthem played at the award ceremony.
