Unexpected news from Russia. The Russian Investigative Committee reported on the Telegram channel that Timur Ivanov, the deputy of the Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, was arrested on suspicion of taking a bribe.
“On suspicion of a crime under Article 290, Part 6 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (taking a bribe), Timur Ivanov, Deputy Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation, was detained. Necessary investigative steps are being taken,” the Russian Investigative Committee said on Tuesday evening.
The Russian and Ukrainian media are writing about the detention of the Russian Defense Minister.
It is said that T. Ivanov is suspected of taking a bribe of at least 1 million rubles. He faces up to 15 years in prison.
T. Ivanov was born in 1975. In May 2016, he was appointed Deputy Minister of Defense. He was responsible for the management of the assets of the army, the construction and repair of facilities and military objects of the Ministry of Defense.
The Russian media writes that they called T. Ivanov the richest Russian security official.
The income of the Defense Minister’s family in 2018 was estimated at 136.7 million rubles.
