More than 80 partner activities will await Vilnius residents and city guests, and the bravest will be able to compete in various competitions. The organizers of the event hope that the “Pink soup fest” will become an annual tradition and involve the whole city in entertainment, and in the future this festival will invite even more guests from abroad to Vilnius.

Creating a new tradition

The aim of the “Pink soup fest” is to present the city’s gastronomic heritage to Vilnius residents and city guests, which will shine with new colors on the occasion of the festival. Although it seems that every Lithuanian knows the recipe for šaltiborščių by heart, the variation of various ingredients allows even the most serious chefs of the country to improvise and offer a completely different version of the traditional soup. According to Inga Romanovskienė, head of Vilnius city tourism and business development agency “Go Vilnius”, this event will help to rediscover šaltiboršči and more than one way of preparing them.

“Šaltibarščių festival is a great opportunity to look back at the places of gastronomic experiences operating in the capital and try new variants of a traditional dish while celebrating the 700th anniversary of Vilnius. Šaltiborščiai even has a color name, so by choosing a bright festival format, we want to create a new tradition – to start the summer cheerfully and cheerfully. This soup, being one of the favorite dishes in Lithuania, deserves a celebration dedicated to it.

All the more so because the talk about štilibaršči due to its exceptional taste and unusual color is spreading more widely abroad. We are very happy with the number of partners who contributed – only together we can create a real city festival, so everyone’s contribution is very important, and the diversity of partners will help create an even more festive festival atmosphere in the whole city”, says I. Romanovskienė.

The culmination of the event is a huge fiesta of frostbites

Šaltibarščiai festival, which will combine gastronomy, various entertainment, culture and art, will be divided into several different areas of activity in Vilnius. More than 80 partners join the festival. Restaurants, bars, hotels, museums, organizers of excursions and other entertainment will present their festive offers.

During the celebration, companies operating in the city will also offer various activities that will help you get to know and rediscover the traditional dish. Everyone from bakeries to fragrance professionals and art galleries will join the frosty fever. And various active activities will not be limited only to excursions – there will be an opportunity to dance at discos, do yoga or other sports. The capital’s hotels are also preparing pink offers for arriving guests of the city.

Another important goal of the event is to reveal the Lithuanian culture of Šaltibarščiai in art. This task will be undertaken by two female artists who will present their unique works that will decorate the city spaces.

The central location of the event is a huge festival space that will stretch from Barbican Hill to Kūdru Park. Those who wish will be able to try the slide down the hill into a huge artificial bowl of ice cream, there will be an election for the most beautiful pink costume, there will be a children’s area with trampolines, a recreation area in Kūdra Park and, of course, food carts selling ice cream in the area of the Tymos Market. In the evening, the participants of the event will be treated to an exclusive concert by Leon Somov, where we will hear a program of dance-inviting works.

“Not only the visitors of the event, but also all the townspeople are invited to dress up in the style of the winter season. Anything pink will do, and the most important thing is a good mood and the desire to celebrate the festival of a unique traditional Lithuanian dish,” says Inga Romanovskienė, head of Go Vilnius.

From pink desserts to the spiciest cold cuts in Lithuania

From a special home fragrance created by “Stiklo kvartal” to an exclusive pink Porsche car – businesses located in Vilnius will surprise everyone who chooses to celebrate pink soup day with their ingenuity. One of the largest partners of the festival – “Paupio turgus” – will invite visitors to see the largest plate of cold soup, and during the “Pink soup fest” the restaurants operating in the center will offer various pink dishes: zeppelins, sushi, cocktails and various variations of cold soup.

In the House of History of the National Museum of Lithuania, you can look for pink inspirations in the new international textile exhibition “IMAGINE”, and the cafe “Eskedar Coffee Terrace” located in the museum will offer you to taste a pink coffee drink, pink desserts and cold drinks from a pink menu, and invite you to a themed pink dinner for one evening . The fragrance house “Olfactory store” has decided to celebrate Frostbite Day in a different way and will present a tasting of various rose fragrances, where visitors will be able to smell both sweet and spicy aromas.

At the same time, candy manufacturers will join the pink fever, presenting a collection of pink chocolate candies based on the motifs of the love story of Barbora Radvilaitė and Žygimantas Augusta. Romantic lovers of sweets will not only be able to feel the exquisite taste, but also hear the famous love story.

At the “Pink soup fest” event, there will be no shortage of various entertainment for children. The school and youth center will invite you to a pink disco, during which young dancers will be able to present to adults the movements they have been perfecting for a long time at home. It is believed that every second Lithuanian can prepare šaltiborški, but few experiment with them.

Thus, Vilnius restaurants and bars promise to surprise you with exceptional dishes that will inspire you to look at this dish more freely when cooking. Even several restaurants and cafes will offer you to taste štiliborščių-flavored desserts, including ice cream, you can enjoy pink soup-flavored coffee, and try the spiciest šlibaršciu in Lithuania at the Hale market.
