On a sunny Sunday afternoon, the already traditional “Feast of Families” was bustling in the stadium of Marijampolė’s Rygiškių Jonos gymnasium. As every year, the celebration for families was solemnly started by a procession of twins and triplets, accompanied by the brass band of the Marijampolė Cultural Center. Several dozen families raising twins or triplets took part in the procession decorated with colorful balloons.

Congratulating the families of Marijampole residents, Povilas Isoda, the mayor of Marijampolė municipality, invited them to be proud of their families: “Thank you to the people of Marijampole for taking care of their families, and the large number of people gathered shows that the people of Marijampole love their families. I wish everyone as many families as possible, and I invite you to have fun at the holiday dedicated to you. The family has always been important in Marijampolė municipality, we try to make sure that nothing happens to the families of Marijampolė and that they feel safe”.

Juozas Olekas, a member of the European Parliament who congratulated the people of Marijampoli, joked that he was a little jealous of those raising twins or triplets, although he was also happy to have raised three children. According to the MEP, Marijampolė is perfectly suited for families, which are comfortable and have plenty of entertainment here.

There was no shortage of entertainment for families, the free Kakės Makės trampoline arena operated on the stadium territory, and soap bubble education took place. Municipal institutions and organizations invited us to get to know, discover and try various activities: VšĮ “Robotics Academy”, LISPA School, Jauniiesi šauliai, “Bricks4kidz”, Majoji Medicinas Kykla, Marijampolė Petros Kriaučiūnas Public Library, Marijampolė Schoolchildren’s Creative Center, Marijampolė Region and President Kazios Griniaus museum, Marijampole Art School, STEAM center, Aikido Aikikai school “Aikivaras”, Marijampole kyokushin karate club “Tornadas”.

On the main stage of the festival, the small participants of the event were entertained by the cheerful performance of Pepe and Karlson, and the children were also given tasks and prizes by the host of the event, Zigmantas Baranauskas. The celebration was decorated with an impressive and breathtaking performance by the talented artists of the Circus School of Šakiai Cultural Center.

From the Rygiškii Jonos gymnasium stadium, the family celebration moved to the Spindulis cinema, where a free screening of the animated film “Weird Betė” was shown.
