Giedrimas Jeglinskas, the candidate of the Democratic Union “Vardan Lietuvos” aspiring for the post of the country’s president, was tricked into the traps of Belarusian propagandists. The politician’s interview, which he thought he gave to the opposition Russian news portal Meduza, ended up on a Belarusian channel.

He announced this on his Facebook account on Wednesday evening.
“I warn all candidates, politicians and public figures. “After being officially approached to give an interview to the opposition Russian news portal Meduza, my interview was suddenly placed on the channel of Belarusian propagandists with all the embellishments of a childish narrative,” he wrote.
“What I can say is that this is an assessment, because it seems that the propagandists are worried about a strong and safe state, for which we must be ready to fight more than ever,” added G. Jeglinskas.
In the post, the candidate advised other colleagues to be vigilant in the future when receiving offers from such so-called “opposition” channels.
