More details regarding the repair of the Vilnius bus station are becoming clear – MadeinVilnius.lt

The implementation of the Vilnius bus station project could start already in two years – the capital’s municipality says. At the same time, an architectural idea competition for the bus station will be announced, which should fundamentally change the image of the Station area.

“At the moment, negotiations are starting with the designer – ZAHA Hadid Architects. When they are finished, a design contract will be signed. Once the construction permit and contractor selection procedures are assessed together, construction could begin in about two years. Lithuanian Railways will be responsible for the train station project, and the Vilnius City Municipality will be responsible for the public transport terminal with the station square,” said Gabrielius Grubinskas, Media Relations Specialist of the Vilnius City Municipality.

According to the representative of the municipality, the architectural idea competition will be announced at a similar time. Therefore, it is likely that both projects would be solved in parallel.

The renovation of the Station area has been talked about in the public space for many years. The station should change after the implementation of the “Vilnius Connect” project. During the implementation of the project, it is planned that the Station Square and the public transport terminal of the city of Vilnius will also change. Vilnius city municipality is responsible for these changes in the project.
