The section of Respublika Street will be repaired only next year

On the streets of the city of Panevėžys, not only street marking works, simple street repairs, but also major street repairs are carried out. For this purpose, lists of the priority order of capital repair works have been compiled.

Darius Linkonas, head of the Construction Department of the Panevėžys city municipality administration, explained when the lists were approved.

“The three-year priority list of streets is approved by the order of Tomas Jukna, director of the Municipal Administration, on March 15 of this year. You can familiarize yourself with the list of priority streets to be repaired On the Panevėžys municipality website“, D. Lincolnas presented the list and provided information on what works are currently taking place on Smėlynė Street.

“Smėlynė street – in the section from Šiaurinė st. roundabouts to the railway crossing – capital repair works started last year are continuing. Asphalt is being laid there, lighting, pedestrian and bicycle paths, part of the rainwater networks, small architecture and traffic safety measures are being installed. Capital repair works of Smėlynė street, from Šiaurinė st. intersections up to the city limits, was carried out by the HISK company. Next Smėlynė st. the section is being repaired by UAB “Ukmergės kelaii”. The contractor must finish the works this year – the contract stipulates a deadline of December 31. However, if the weather conditions are favorable, the contractor plans to complete the work by September,” said D. Lincoln.

Public procurements have been announced

According to the head of the Construction Department of the city municipality, capital repairs of the section of Žvaigždžių Street and Lėkiškios Street are scheduled for this year.

“A public procurement is currently being announced for the repair of Žvaigždžių Street. We plan to sign the contract in June. How much the repair works will cost will become clear after the public procurement procedures. After signing the contract with the contractor, we plan that the capital repair works of the street section will be completed within two years. The technical project preparation service was purchased for the capital repair of Lėkiškios Street, and it will be performed by UAB “Patvanka”, the winner of the public procurement. The price of the project preparation is 35 thousand. euros”, said D. Lincolnas.

The section of Respublikas street will be repaired next year

To the question of the residents of Panevėžys, why the section of Respublikas Street has not been repaired for so long, since Vasario 16th St. to Respublika st. 44, D. Lincoln answered briefly:

“The overhaul of this section of the street is scheduled for 2025. Why did we have to wait so long for the repair of this section of the street, because it is planned to repair the section of Respublikas street after the completion of the installation of the Stasios Eidrigevitis Arts Center. If the street section had been repaired earlier, the heavy machinery would have damaged the new street surface.”
