As the court continued the so-called Seimas riots case, one defendant was ordered to be arrested and a search warrant was issued for him, while three defendants were fined for not participating in previous court hearings.

As Giedrius Janonis, the representative of Vilnius city district court, informed BNS on Wednesday, Almantas Bimba’s remand was changed from a written promise not to go to arrest, and his search was also announced.

At the end of April, the court fined the accused Vygantas Petkas, Žydrūnas Kamarov and Artūrs Točilov 300 euros for not attending two hearings.

Six more hearings in this case are planned for May, and on Thursday the court has scheduled to question the member of the Seimas, conservative Andrii Navickas, and four other witnesses.

Charges have been brought against 87 persons in the case of the riots near the Seimas, almost all of the accused are at large. 25 officers were recognized as victims.

Other members of the Seimas have already testified in this case: conservatives Kęstutis Masiulis, Sergejus Jovaiša, Vytautas Kernagis, member of the democratic union “Vardan Lietuvos” Kęstutis Mažeika, social democrat Dovilė Šakalienė, “peasant” Tomas Tomilinas.

Riots outside the parliament building in Vilnius broke out on the evening of August 10, 2021, after a rally against the Government’s restrictions on people who do not have immunity to the coronavirus and who do not get tested.
