Military expert Oleksandr Musyenka commented on the statement of Alexander Lukashenko about nuclear exercises in Belarus during a television marathon, UNIAN reports.

“Lukashenka is now actively involved in this process. Perhaps they really considered various scenarios against Lithuania, which is why Lithuania started intensive military exercises. But what is important is what has changed in NATO. Note the publication of La Repubblica that NATO has withdrawn the red lines of confrontation with Russia. They write that NATO countries are considering options for strikes on the territory of Belarus. And this is a signal to Lukashenka that any provocations will have painful consequences”, said O. Musijenka.

He also noted that Russia keeps threatening nuclear weapons when it has problems on the battlefield.

If Russia was convinced that it could achieve victory by military means, it would not resort to other means.

“This shows Russia’s impotence on the battlefield. They did not take into account the fact that Europe would be so actively involved in helping Ukraine and that the US would vote for the aid package. Their positions no longer seem so strong, although they are activating offensive actions,” the expert said.

He also added that due to the difficult situation at the front, Russia is forced to resort to psychological destabilization both in Ukraine and in the West.

“If Russia was convinced that it could achieve victory by military means, it would not resort to other means. Now it is driving a broad campaign to destabilize Ukraine and Europe. This is an attempt on [Volodymyrą] Zelenskiy, and destabilization in Europe. There is a lot more waiting for us this month, there will be a lot of informational-psychological operations. The nuclear exercises are also related to this”, noted O. Musijenka.

As already reported, Belarus, following Russia’s example, informed that it will urgently inspect non-strategic nuclear weapons carriers.
