“We have very clear pro-Kremlin, pro-Putin candidates. If you look at the ratings, when a few percent of the public support such actors, it is apparently a medium for Kremlin actors to work in Lithuania and have the opportunity to recruit people who will probably cooperate and provide information to our unfriendly neighbor, S. Skvernelis told reporters in the Seimas on Tuesday. .

According to the ex-premier, it is necessary to take steps so that there are no more manifestations of the Kremlin’s narrative in society.

“We can see that there is a sufficient number of people who would wait with flowers for Russian tanks to enter Lithuania, and they are represented by politicians who were in the Seimas until recently,” he said.

Presidential elections in Lithuania will be held on May 12.

ELTA reminds that Russia and Russian communities celebrate Victory Day over Nazi Germany on May 9. At that time, Europe commemorates the end of World War II a day earlier, on May 8. After the end of the Second World War, Lithuania remained part of the Soviet Union, which occupied it and carried out repressions against the peaceful population.

Last year, on the eve of May 9, the monument of partisan leader Adolfos Ramanauskas-Vanagas was desecrated in Merkina. There was also a report of another attack in the Lazdija district, in the village of Bielėnai – the monument of the partisan leader was not only covered with white paint, but an ax was also found cut into the sculpture.

Karbauskis was surprised by the passive agitation for the referendum: my accusation is clear and unequivocal

Ramūnas Karbauskis, the leader of the “peasants” who participated in the early voting on Tuesday, is angry with the passive campaign for the multiple citizenship referendum. According to the politician, in order to explain why such an important issue was pushed to the margins, only one answer comes to mind – the conservatives.

“Now there was no advertising. I am assuming that the Conservatives deliberately sabotaged the referendum in this case. Apparently, they understand that people who have left Lithuania due to disappointment will not vote for the current government,” R. Karbauskis said after casting his vote in Kaunas.

“My accusation is clear and unequivocal – you are actually deceiving and betraying people,” he said, adding that he himself supports the dual citizenship initiative.

On his part, commenting on the presidential elections, R. Karbauskis said that he would notice a payoff against one candidate.

“The election campaign is focused on one candidate – the one we support,” said R. Karbauskis, referring to Igna Vēgelė.

“Even when one of the candidates is openly pro-Russian and his rhetoric does not go well with national security, his presence in the elections does not cause any concern for the ruling party,” the peasant leader told Elta.
