When bringing waste to the sorting center, it is necessary to have an identity document

From May 2 the waste acceptance procedure is changing in the sorting centers operated by the Alytus Region Waste Management Center (large-sized waste collection sites), Takniškiu branch, reuse center “TikoTiks”.

On the radio station FM99, there was an interview with Linus Brazauskas, the head of the Sorting Centers Activity Organization Unit of the Alytus Region Waste Management Center.

As Linas Brazauskas said, the requirement to compile such data in the waste management accounting journal is provided for in the rules for accounting and reporting of waste generation and management, approved by order of the Minister of the Environment.

In the Alytus region waste management center facilities, cumulative data accounting has been applied until now, and from May 2 of this year. the data of each resident and the amount of delivered waste will be collected.
This will help to carry out a more accurate accounting of waste generated in municipalities, to avoid the handling of waste brought from other regions and the costs incurred as a result.

Each person bringing waste will have to present an identity document, i.e. an identity card or passport, or a driver’s license issued since 2005. on November 1, or a residence permit of a long-term resident of the Republic of Lithuania in the European Union (permanent residence permit), or a temporary residence permit in the Republic of Lithuania.

The personal document number, the name of the person who brought the waste, the municipality from which the waste was brought, the amount of waste brought, the code, the date of delivery and other data are entered into the product packaging accounting information system (GPAIS) and are used for waste management accounting.

After the new procedure comes into force, residents who bring tires will no longer need to fill out paper declarations.
All waste, with the exception of heavy vehicle tires, hay bales and automotive plastics, is still accepted free of charge at the sorting centers. Residents who bring waste are requested to respond to the changes in good faith, prepare an identity document in advance and present it to an employee of the sorting center.
