Not only that, there are mountains of dust, everything is drowned in smog during the peak season,” complained the resident of Vilnius.
Major repairs are being carried out
Gabrielius Grubinskas, Media Relations Specialist of the Communication Department of the Vilnius City Municipality, commented that in recent years, only local repair works were carried out on Ukmergės Street, the upper layer of the asphalt surface was being repaired.
“At the moment, Ukmergės Street is being overhauled, that is, all asphalt layers are being replaced. We understand that the repair work may cause inconvenience, but once it is completed, traffic on the street will be able to flow more safely and smoothly.
Continuous asphalting, among other things, also means better quality work, due to which the need for street renovation later, and the inconveniences caused by it, are much less frequent.
Until now, there were no roadside curbs in the area shown in the photos. There are no plans to change the sidewalk tiles, only their height will be adjusted in relation to the newly installed curbs,” commented the representative of the Vilnius City Municipality.
