Damaged the road

A resident of Marijampolė municipality requested to reduce the weight limit of vehicles on the road between the villages of Kidoliškii and Lūginė, i.e. restore the previously valid one. Now the sign “Limited mass 8 tons” prevents him from entering the fields of cultivated land with agricultural machinery. Previously, the weight was limited to 24 tons, so there were no problems for farmers.

The members of the traffic safety commission reminded that limiting the weight of vehicles up to 8 tons on the said road was started when the said farmer was transporting construction materials on this road and damaged the road: he broke the curb, damaged the entrances.

The chapel of blessed Jurgis Matulaitis in the village of Lūginė is famous for traditional pilgrimages of young people, it is widely visited by worshipers during indulgences. Everyone was very happy when new asphalt was laid instead of the worn gravel road, which is being preserved. Therefore, it is disappointing when the road is damaged, after all, it is not only intended for agricultural machinery. The farmer was instructed to repair the damaged road. He claims to have strengthened the roadsides, repaired the damaged section. The Commission has decided to return the previous weight limit of vehicles to 24 tons.

It was also requested to install a speed bump on the mentioned road between Kidoliškės and Lūginė villages. The request is based on the fact that the road is near the forest, where wild animals often run out and are knocked down by cars.

The traffic safety commission did not approve this request, because speed bumps are not prepared where the maximum speed is allowed, between forests. It’s just that drivers, seeing that the road is near a wooded area, should drive more carefully.

Cycling will not be prohibited in the Poetry Park

A resident of Marijampole complains about the intense traffic of two-wheeled vehicles in Poezija Park. According to him, it complicates the movement of those who want to take a leisurely walk, and their health is at risk. “When driving past pedestrian cyclists, scooter riders do not follow the established speed limit. Although the Road Traffic Rules require minors to wear helmets, you won’t see that either. “Poetry Park would be the pride of Marijampolė, if it weren’t for the intense buzzing of cyclists and scooters”, said the resident. Marijampolietis suggests limiting the rides of these road users in the park, especially where pedestrians walk. In his opinion, cyclists should only ride on separate paths, but not in circles around the park. “And it is necessary to prevent them from driving through the underground tunnel through Vilkaviškis street, because many people come to look at the facade installed in the tunnel. There are gatherings, and there are bicycles and scooters flying around here, it becomes dangerous. “Unfortunately, neither the police nor the municipal services care about this yet,” wrote the Marijampoli resident.

From Kidoliškii towards Lūginė village, the weight of vehicles will be limited to 24 tons.

The traffic safety commission did not approve the resident’s request. It is believed that both cyclists and pedestrians can get along in the park, only goodwill is needed.

You don’t want garbage trucks breaking up the site

The Safe Traffic Commission considered the request of UAB “Sūduvos vandenys”, acting as the administrator of the common property of the owners of apartments and other premises in the 3rd apartment building on Suvalkiečių street, to install the road sign “Limited mass” at the entrance to Suvalkiečių st. The parking lot of the 3rd house in Marijampolė.

According to the administrator, the entrance to the parking lot of the mentioned house has been fixed at the expense of the municipality, the residents want the cars of the Ecoservice waste management company not to damage the restored surface. Garbage can be taken out another way.

The request is approved.

The parents of the children of the “Rūta” nursery school want a place for their cars

The parents of the “Rūta” nursery-kindergarten in Marijampolė appealed to the Traffic Safety Commission because when they bring their children to the educational institution, they have problems finding a place to park their vehicle in order to accompany the little ones to the kindergarten. Parents leave their cars in the parking lot of Jonas Totoraitis Progymnasium, but there is a sign prohibiting this. There is also a no parking sign in the lot near the apartment buildings. The kindergarten is surrounded by apartment buildings, and has a very small yard, which simply does not fit cars used to bring or pick up children. On the other side of the building are the library and apartment buildings, where there are also signs prohibiting parking.

“Please help to solve the problem, because we often receive accusations that we violate road traffic rules, threats that we will hand over the material about the violation to the police. It’s unpleasant when those threats happen to young children. Parents believe that the problem could be solved if they were allowed to keep their cars in the parking lot of J. Totoraitis pro-gymnasium.

The request was not approved, because the pro-gymnasium takes care of the order of the school yard.

The request to dismantle the road sign “Motor vehicle traffic is prohibited” in Marijampolė, near Vytauto st., was also not approved. 49. This issue must be resolved with the house administrator.

The commission stated that there is no possibility in Marijampolė, near Parko st. of the 17th house, mark the parking places for vehicles. The application for the installation of road signs “Stopping prohibited” in Marijampole, Artojų Street was also rejected.

Piglet villagers will have a village name

The Commission considered the request of Seimas member Andrias Vyšniauskas to install road signs marking the beginning and end of the village of Paršeliai (Šunskė County) and speed bumps.

According to the member of the Seimas, he was approached by the Paršelai village community regarding the unsafe traffic conditions near residential houses. Sodžias str. settled residents expressed their displeasure that there are no signs of the beginning and end of the settlement in the territory of Paršeliai village. Due to this, vehicles travel at high speed, thus endangering the residents.

Due to the situation, residents are asking not only to mark the settlement with road signs, but also to install speed bumps.

The commission decided to mark the village of Paršelai with road signs. It is not planned to build a speed roller coaster, there are simply no technical possibilities for it, because the road is covered with gravel.

They want a speedometer on Kaunas Street

Nerijus from Marijampoli calls the traffic on Kaunas street negative. He lives on this street, so he knows very well how vehicles travel on the street. “It’s great that sometimes there is a so-called “triple” and an unmarked police car on Kaunas Street. However, such a speed measurement is not enough. All street racing and other traffic violations usually take place from 8 p.m. evening The speed is also exceeded by the so-called “British” and all kinds of “atmarozs”, for whom human life and health mean nothing,” the Marijampoli resident wrote.

In his opinion, the problem would be solved by a stationary radar at Kaunas street. 53 of the building. The device could measure speed and monitor other violations, and the residents of Kaunas Street apartment buildings would be grateful.

The commission concluded that there are no financial possibilities to install a stationary radar yet, but the officers of the road police department of the Marijampolė county VPK will look around Kaunas street more often after 8 p.m.
