The “Audra” festival will start the summer in Kaunas: over 70 hours of culture awaits

On June 5-9, the festival “Audra” returns to Kaunas. Its five-day program will traditionally invite not only lovers of night culture who are determined to dance until dawn, but also visitors who are thirsty for artistic initiatives. 16 cultural events will flood 10 different places of Kaunas this year.

The Audros youth activities program, which offers 70 hours of high-quality cultural events, invites you to explore the city this year as an island of thoughts, ideas and communities. Night auditions or the Half Song Festival, performances and concerts, which have become a tradition, will be complemented by pleasant surprises – for example, choirs singing in dialect, distant rave spaces opening their doors during excursions or an interwar cafe that will only be open for one day.

The organizers of the event do not hide that great attention was paid to the search for unique spaces in this year’s program. “For the performance, we will invite you to visit the Bank of Lithuania, taste interwar desserts – the Žaliakalnis funicular and its entrances, we will carry out night painting in the pool of Kauka’s stairs, we will invite you to go on excursions to hundred-year-old rave places or take a look at the book storage tower of the Đžuolynas library. This is a way not only to explore the physical or perceived spaces of the city, but also to tame them,” says Austėja Jociūtė, head of the program of VšĮ “Kylantis Kaunas”.

Shame, coffee, fashion shows and night auditions under the starry sky

In the program – a symbol of the “Audros” festival that has already become a classic – night auditions curated by “Nepatogas kino” at the entrances of the M. Žilinskas gallery. Under the starry sky, from silent disco headphones, June 6-7. will calmly and easily touch again the unique stories of the people of the world.

The most loyal fans of “Audras” will gather again this year at Pusės diinos festival, which will be warmed up by performers from Klaipėda – Morre and yyori. PDF – an annual concert-competition that invites online music artists who have not yet had the chance to try a real stage to appear on stage. It was here that Dj Nevykele, a well-known artist, appeared for the first time. It will be possible to find out which new stars will shine in the Lithuanian musical sky on June 7, Jonavos st. 3 in the indoor parking lot.

There will be no shortage of news this summer – the audiovisual performance “OvertoNE” is being created especially for the “Audros” festival. June 7 The axis of the performance, which will be held at the Kaunas branch of the Bank of Lithuania, is the ethnographic regions of Lithuania, their traditions and customs, which will be voiced by a choir moving through the space and singing in old dialects.

For the first time, the Đžuolynas library is joining the festival. June 7, K. Donelaičio st. 8, in the courtyard of the library, visitors will be invited to cross the thresholds of shame and look at this feeling through historical, sociological and psychological perspectives, and at the end of the event to express their feelings with the alternative rock group “Shame”. The Đžuolynas library will offer you to visit the renovated branch of the library on Radastų st. 2, where you will be greeted by tours of the book storage tower, which is not normally accessible to visitors. An equally interesting event will await you on the ground as well – the fashion show of creators creating sustainable fashion will be located on the library stairs.

June 5-9 more activities await: baristas, coffee lovers and historical cafe workers will meet on the Kaunas funicular. Even more unique places of the city will be shown by various tour guides, who promise to briefly turn the pages of the history of Kaunas’s nightlife or stop by the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Crafts. Artistic installations, activities and workshops will also be waiting for you in the courtyard of the Kaunas Artists’ House, the courtyard of the Lithuanian Museum of Education, Ĺžuolyne, the night club “Lizdas” or even on the steps of Vytautas Park.
