The 47-year-old strategist took the helm of the team at the end of January, when he took over the team from Mindaugas Brazi and achieved a series of eight victories in the “Betsafe-LKL” championship.

The managers of the port city club were convinced by the Greek specialist’s work ethic, stubbornness, and attention to detail.

“Georgios proved his talent and professionalism while working with a team that he did not choose himself, and managed to earn respect both from the club’s management, from the team’s veterans, from the youth, and from the Lithuanian Basketball League. He perfectly understands and quickly identifies the mistakes of the players, finds a solution in difficult situations. The Greek very willingly contributes to the education of young people, participates in all training parts of the “Neptune” pyramid system. The coach is very happy being in Klaipėda. We are very happy to have extended the contract”, said club director Martynas Mažeika.

At the moment, the people of Klaipėda are sixth in the LKL championship with 14 wins and 15 losses.

The most impressive victory was achieved by G. Vovor two weeks ago, when Klaipėda residents beat Kaunas “Žalgiris” 114:112 at home.

The 47-year-old Greek worked for a number of years as an assistant coach of the Athens “Panathinaikos”, but he also led this legendary Greek team for short periods. G. Vovoras has also worked as a head coach in Debrecen EAC and Nicosia APOEL teams.
