L. Kasinas will discuss the American military presence in Lithuania with the US Secretary of Land Forces

According to the statement issued by the Ministry of National Security (KAM) on Thursday, Lithuania seeks a permanent and uninterrupted US military presence in the region. During the meeting, the minister was assured that the American battalion will remain in Lithuania for an indefinite period, and the establishment in the region will not change.

On Tuesday, Minister BNS also claimed that he will receive assurances from US officials that the American battalion will remain in Lithuania indefinitely, and not until the end of 2025, as was planned earlier.

At the meeting, L. Kasinas supported the long-term commitment of the United States to ensure the security of the Baltic region and the leadership of NATO, as well as the financial support for Lithuania under the Baltic security initiatives.

We are grateful to the United States for maintaining a military presence in the Baltic states. (…) In our opinion, we will make every effort to ensure that the arriving US soldiers are provided with all the necessary host support and the appropriate infrastructure that meets NATO standards is created, L. Kasinas is quoted in the report.

Minister C. Wormuth presents the division’s crime and capacity development plans, which include acquisitions in the USA. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in the medium term, Lithuania will purchase arms worth 1.3 billion from the United States. USD, which accounts for 20% of all planned acquisitions in Lithuania.

According to L. Kasin, during the meeting with C. Wormuth, he heard about continuous and tireless support for Ukraine.

Our goal is that the support for Ukraine will be 0.25% of the GDP, that it will be a consistent support of combat fuel in all possible ways, as much as needed, said L. Kasinas.

Since 2019, rotating battalions of the US army have been continuously serving in Lithuania. At the moment, soldiers of the 3rd Battalion Hounds of the 67th Infantry Regiment and the 1st Battalion Battle Kings of the 9th Field Artillery Regiment are stationed in Pabradje.
