Panevėžys city municipality was officially approached by city partner Vinycias and Irpinė municipalities, which asked them to accept children whose parents have died or are fighting for the freedom of their homeland during the summer. Since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, the municipality, together with the non-governmental organizations, companies, institutions and residents of the city, has been responding to various events taking place in the brotherly country and, in case of need, provides the necessary support or assistance. We invite you to focus on a noble goal this time as well.

“From the brutal war in Ukraine, the weakest part of society, unable to defend itself, suffers – children. Responding to the request of Ukrainian city municipalities, we take the initiative to organize a summer camp for children. Let’s focus on a noble goal and give the children of Ukraine the opportunity to forget their troubles at least for a while and enjoy a peaceful sky. We also invite the people of Panevėžys – companies, organizations, communities to contribute to the organization of the children’s camp”, says Rytis Račkauskas, the mayor of Panevėžys city municipality.

It is planned that the camp for Ukrainian children will take place in Panevėžys from August 7 to 21, 36 people will stay in the city – children aged 11-15 and accompanying adults. In order to help the children to forget and have an emotional rest, it is planned to organize maximum employment for them during the day. During the stay, it is planned to offer children excursions to the Klaipėda Maritime Museum and Dolphinarium, a trip through the narrows to Lake Rubikii, a night excursion to the Carp Manor, kayaking on the Nevėžio River, etc.

Two institutions of the city of Panevėžys have already offered to provide free accommodation and meals. Budgetary, public, non-governmental, private, commercial, business institutions operating in the city of Panevėžys are invited to come together for children’s employment, contributing their services or funds.
