The company “Via Lietuva” announces that traffic changes will be made in the near future in Kaunas, on the road near Fort IX. In order to increase traffic safety and reduce the number of road hazards in this area, new road markings will restrict access from the Kaunas–Marijampole–Suvalkai road towards Fort IX.

After the road marking changes are implemented, road users who want to drive towards Fort IX will have several options – they can continue their journey a little further from the complex transport hub, as well as through the local streets of the city of Kaunas. The traffic changes should be completed by May 15.

In the acceleration lane leading from the Vilnius–Kaunas–Klaipėda highway to the Kaunas–Marijampole–Suvalkai highway, a large transit flow is observed every day. Motorists who want to change lanes to the interchange leading towards Fort IX face a road hazard. In addition, technical traffic incidents occur quite often in this section. After evaluating these reasons, a decision was made to adjust the existing traffic organization at this location.

This year, “Via Lietuva” plans to continue the implementation of engineering traffic safety measures on national roads, including: renovated or newly installed pedestrian crossings, intersection renovation works, protection measures against wild animals, installation of measures to remove “black spots” at intersections and road sections, etc. .
