“As every year in the months of May-October, all residents of Lithuania and tourists from abroad will again be able to enjoy regular and short trips of the Narrow-gauge Railway. In addition, there is an opportunity to book a train trip at an agreed time specially just for you”, says the director of VšĮ “Aukštaitijas siaurasis geležinkelis”, dr. Darius Liutikas.
From May, Siaurukas starts traveling on regular routes from Anykščiai train station to Rubikii. Regular flight Anykščiai – Rubikiai – Anykščiai will run from May 11. until the end of October. On this route every weekend at 11 am. will be held at Rubikii Lake.
“After arriving at Rubikii Lake, passengers will have the opportunity to enjoy a few hours of relaxation in nature, where the beach, boating, rafting or water bikes will await them, as well as the opportunity to spend time in a nearby cafe,” says the head of the institution.
From May 4 VšĮ “Aukštaitijos siaurasis geležinkels” starts organizing regular rides on short trips in Anykščiai and Panevėžys. Short trips will be organized in Anykščiai on Saturdays and Sundays, and in Panevėžys – on Thursdays.
The short-haul journey from Anykščiai railway station will take place over the Šventoji river bridge. During the trip, you can admire wonderful views, the panorama of the Šventoji river, which opens from the railway bridge. The route is designed to experience driving on a unique and the only narrow road operating in Lithuania. The ticket price per passenger is 5 euros. Trips are organized from May 11. on weekends at 3:30 p.m., 4:00 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. May 4-5 short trips will be made at 11:00, 14:00 and 16:00.
Also in Anykščiai there is an opportunity for everyone who wants to take a ride on the narrow gauge railway tracks in an electric train.
This season’s novelty is the possibility to go for a ride in a manual train.
In Panevėžys, short trips will be organized on Thursdays at 11 a.m. This is a short experiential journey through the historical cultural heritage – the narrow. Travelers of this route depart from the Panevėžys narrow gauge railway station (Geležinkelio str. 23, Panevėžys). During the trip, travelers will take part in the educational program “Panevėžys narrow gauge”, during which they will learn about the history of the narrow gauge railway in Lithuania, the Panevėžys depot-steam train and historical rolling stock. The route is Panevėžys narrow gauge railway station – Panevėžys depot-railway station. Passengers will also have the opportunity to ride a manual train. The ticket price for 1 passenger is 7 euros.
