The capital of Dzūkija starts the season of outdoor summer events on Friday. The “Garage Motor Show” exhibition of exclusive cars and the “Street Race” race will take place in the very center of the city, on the Alytus Town Hall Square, this Friday and Saturday, May 3-4.
Car disco
“Garage Motor Show” shook the city already last year and surprised visitors with extremely impressive cars. Owners of vintage, American, sports, modified and other cars and stunning buses are coming to Alytus this year as well.
Festival participants will gather at the “Nemunas” site on Friday, where from 4 p.m. registration of participants will take place.
6 p.m. there will be a unique car disco, the playlist of which was prepared by a well-known radio station and the participants themselves. The organizers promise that even cars will demonstrate their dance moves.
On Saturday, the holiday from 10 a.m. “Street Race” participants will start, who will compete in a slalom race in the very center of the city – around the city park. This is where the official season of the 2024 Lithuanian Street Race Championship will begin! The first race of the season in the capital of Dzūkija is organized by the well-known and well-known organizing forces of “Jaunasis lečeršininkas” and “Marimotors Racing” among participants and spectators.
Free concert
The “Garage Motor Show” will start at noon on Saturday with an airplane show over the Town Hall Square – pilots of the Kupiškis Aeroclub will demonstrate their acrobatic skills.
Until 16:00 everyone who wants will be able to view exclusive cars for free, interview their owners and vote for the best ones – the Alytus Mayor’s Cup will be awarded, the audience’s favorite will be chosen, and the winners of the Exhaust “sound” event and “Hit the goal” event will be awarded. The commission will also evaluate and announce the winners in another 17 different categories.
Spectators of the event will also be able to test a simulation car that simulates a traffic accident.
The celebration will be crowned by Stan’s free concert on the Town Hall Square.
Traffic changes
The organizers also inform about the changed traffic organization.
Friday, May 4 from 7 o’clock until Saturday evening, traffic will be prohibited on S. Darius and S. Girėnos and J. Basanavičius streets from the entrance to the “Nemunas” parking lot (S. Darius and S. Girėnos st. 7) to J. Basanavičius and Sportos st. intersections (near the “Dainava” cinema).
Saturday, May 4 from 7 o’clock until 11 p.m. traffic will be prohibited on S. Darius and S. Girėnos streets from “Angelo” to the intersection with J. Basanavičius street. It will not be possible to drive along J. Basanavičius street to V. Krevės street and Maironis street to the intersection of this street with MK Čiurlionis street.
