The Klaipėda District Chamber of the Klaipėda District Court has started examining the case of a farmer accused of negligent taking of life – her bull fatally injured an elderly man.
The accident happened last November, in the village of Rudgalvii. A 79-year-old man was injured by the bull and died on the way to the hospital.
As reported by the court, the woman from Klaipėda is accused of taking the life of another person due to negligence, in violation of the special safety rules of behavior established by legal acts.
According to the indictment, the woman has been charged with being a farmer, keeping cattle and acting carelessly, with the obligation to ensure that the animals kept by her do not leave alone outside the territory of the land holding where they are kept, do not pose a threat to the lives of people, other animals, or health or property, 2023 in November, a cattle belonging to her – a bull – ran away from the pasture located in the Klaipėda district when the electric shepherd was interrupted.
He ran to AN’s property, attacked and injured AN, who died in an ambulance on the way to hospital.
The accused was charged with negligent taking of life. A person who, due to carelessness, took the life of another person, violating the special safety rules of behavior established by legal acts, is punished by imprisonment for up to eight years.
The first hearing of the case took place last week, the case will continue on June 12, witnesses are scheduled to be called to the hearing.
