“In April, we had really changeable weather. Although there were some very warm days, they were followed by sudden cold weather, even frost. Our decision to wait for settled warm weather paid off.
Residents lost the cold in their homes and workplaces, as in other municipalities that decided to stop heating much earlier. I believe that the residents of the Vilnius district warmly welcome the increasingly brighter and warmer days in their homes”, says Robert Duchnevič, the mayor of the Vilnius district municipality.
The end of the heating season is announced taking into account the actual outdoor air temperatures, when the average outdoor air temperature is higher than 10 degrees Celsius for three days in a row.
This year, due to cooler weather in April, the heating season ends later than last year. In 2023, the heating was turned off for the residents of the Vilnius district with centralized heating on April 19, 2022. – on May 5, and the 2020-2021 heating season was one of the longest heating seasons in Vilnius District Municipality – the heating was turned off on May 10.
2023-2024 the beginning of the heating season was announced in the entire territory of the municipality on October 12 last year.
