“Vilnius JJAZZ Ensemble” together with St. Christopher’s Chamber Orchestra will perform an exceptional program on May 9. Two musical groups from Vilnius will dive into compositional searches, during which the chamber orchestra and big band will present the listeners with a never-before-heard sound.

“Cooperation with St. The Kristoforos Chamber Orchestra is a unique opportunity to create an innovative sound of symphonic jazz: the string orchestra will not only enrich the scores of jazz works, but also provide new colors and sound possibilities”, said the members of Vilnius JJAZZ Ensemble.

In this group, not only virtuosos of their instruments play, but also talented composers, known for their love of experimentation and determination to go beyond the usual boundaries of jazz in their work. During the concert, the audience will hear how JJAZZ composers J. Jasinskis, Karolis Šarkus, Simonas Šipavičius, Apolinars Dubauskas, Gediminas Strupinskas, Domantas Razmus and Pranas Kentra combine the sound of a big band and a string orchestra in their work. It is their works that will be heard in the latest “Vilnius JJAZZ Ensemble” and St. in the program of the Christopher Chamber Orchestra.

“We can expect extraordinary energy on stage. Both teams support each other intensely and are looking forward to the meeting, which seems like it should have happened a long time ago. That mutual desire to play together is a great joy. St. I appreciate Christopher’s Chamber Orchestra both for the skill of the performers and for their sincerity and love for music.

We often see the musicians of this orchestra among the audience of our concerts, we feel their great support and warmth, which we greatly appreciate. We believe this connection is what makes music magical. I am glad that as many as seven composers of the ensemble are creating music for this performance,” said J. Jasinskis.

“The new festival “Vilnius Spring Festival” will bring together the brightest collectives and performers of the young generation of the city of Vilnius. The jazz ensemble gathered by Jievars Jasinskis will present new compositions, enriched by St. The sound of the string group of the Christopher Chamber Orchestra. The concert will also be special in that it will commemorate Europe Day, the anniversaries of Lithuania’s accession to the EU and NATO,” emphasized St. Modests Barkauskas, conductor of the Christopher Chamber Orchestra.
