May 9 5:15 p.m. Presentation of the book “Blood of Gedimin” by Eimantas Gudas and Žilvina Petrauskaitė in the conference hall of Gabrielė Petkevičaitė-Bitė public library of Panevėžys county. Authors participate.

The Gediminai family is a dynasty of Lithuanian rulers whose strength was tried and respected by all of Europe. Butigeidis, Butvydas, Vytenis, Gediminas, Jaunutis, Algirdas, Jogaila, Kęstutis, Vytautas, Švitrigaila, Žygymantas Kęstutaitis, Kazimieras Jogailaitis, Aleksandras Jogailaitis, Žygymantas Senasis, Žygymantas Augustas. Many will confidently say: these are the rulers of Lithuania, Gediminai. But certainly not everyone knows who their wives were, how the lives of their daughters and sons, who did not become Grand Dukes of Lithuania, turned out.

The authors counted: their book contains as many as 112 men and women’s destinies.

Did Gediminas really intend to be baptized? Which granddaughter of Gediminas married the Holy Roman Emperor Charles IV and was crowned empress?

Why did Kęstutis refuse the crown? Which sister did Jogaila love the most and why? Which premature Jogailaitis was raised in the entrails of freshly slaughtered pigs?

What is the fate of the crowns forged for Vytautas the Great and his wife Julijona? Which grand duke of Lithuania was the last to speak Lithuanian?

Are there still Gediminaichi alive?

The authors of “Gedimin’s Blood” are convinced: it’s time to get to know the Lithuanian noble family, which ruled Lithuania for almost 300 years.
