“If inconsistencies are detected, the territorial division of the service instructs the company to return the shipment to a third party, if no safety violations have been identified. If it is determined that non-animal fodder imported to Lithuania is unsafe, it is ordered to be destroyed or specially processed”, Kristina Dainovskytė-Šustikė, an advisor temporarily performing the functions specified in the job description of the director of the border control department, stated in the report.

As announced by the council, cereals of non-animal origin and their final products intended for direct human consumption were not imported into Lithuania from Russia and Belarus within the stipulated period.

Meanwhile, imports from Russia and Belarus to other countries increased, mainly to Germany, France and Denmark. In the period from March 18, non-animal fodder imported to other European Union countries. until April 24 174 from Russia and 173 from Belarus were recorded, so a total of 347 shipments. Compared to the period from January 1. until March 17 the amount of such shipments increased by 88.59 percent. or 1.9 times.
