According to the pre-trial investigation, an 18-year-old living in Klaipėda came to the attention of law enforcement officials last February when he sold a bottle of e-cigarette liquid to another person, which allegedly contained a psychotropic substance. According to the available data, the young man, who was not yet of legal age at the time, was looking for buyers in a non-fixed connection app, where he posted ads about the junk available for purchase. One such advertisement was answered by a person who cooperated with the officers, who bought the aforementioned liquid from the defendant for 50 euros.

The second defendant in the case, a 19-year-old boy, was caught by the police officers last March when he sold psychotropic substances to a person who also cooperated with the officers.

According to the totality of the collected data, the boy, who was 17 years old at the time, announced about the distribution of illegal materials on a non-fixed communication app. After finding a buyer in this way, the accused allegedly sold him a plastic bottle containing a psychotropic liquid. The totality of the available data suggests that at the end of March last year, the same guy sold a different form of junk to a person who cooperated with the authorities – sheets of perforated paper with a psychotropic substance – lysergide.

During the continuation of the investigation, his residence was searched, during which police officers found 11 bottles with psychotropic liquid and the above-mentioned sheets of perforated paper.

After the law enforcement officers received information about the alleged criminal act of the third accused in the case, a 22-year-old man from Klaipėda, his place of residence was checked. In May 2023, police officers found a large amount of 0.05 grams of the psychotropic substance lysergide in his home. It is suspected that the young man intended to distribute this material to others. The officers also found a small amount of narcotic substance – cannabis – in his apartment.

All three persons have been charged under Article 260 of the Criminal Code (BK) (“Illegal possession of narcotic or psychotropic substances with the intent to distribute them or illegal possession of a very large amount of narcotic or psychotropic substances”). The 19- and 22-year-olds are also charged with the criminal acts provided for in Article 259 of the Criminal Code (“Illegal possession of narcotic or psychotropic substances without the intent to distribute them”).

Persons for the illegal possession of narcotic or psychotropic substances with the intention of distributing them may be punished with imprisonment of up to eight years. Whoever illegally manufactured, processed, acquired, kept, transported or sent narcotic or psychotropic substances without the intention of selling them or otherwise distributing them, shall be punished by a fine or arrest, or imprisonment for up to two years.

The criminal case was transferred to the Klaipėda City Chamber of the Klaipėda District Court.
