The municipality of Tauragė district allocated 120 thousand euros for the implementation of community initiatives. Such a project has been implemented in Taurage since 2021.

Every year, the municipality allocates 3 euros to each resident of Tauragė district. That money goes to the councils or communities, and residents’ initiatives are implemented for them: things are bought, buildings are repaired, inventory of public spaces is bought and built. The municipalities are responsible for project implementation and accounting.

Will maintain buildings, take care of disabled people

Vidmantas Skirius, the elder of Gaurė ward, informed that he distributed 1240 euros to all the communities of the ward.

– With the money received, the community of Gaure wants to build a gazebo by the pond, Eičiai wants to finish lining the stage and buy oak wood for carving, Baltrušaičiai – benches by the beach, we will buy cobblestones and curbs for Stragute. We will buy as much as we can for the allocated amount. The priests want to repair the toilet, but it will be difficult to fit into the allocated amount. The senate has to announce tenders for the works, said V. Skirius.

Lauksargiai Eldership received 3,300 euros, which, according to elder Mindaugas Giačs, will be used by one eldership this year.

– This is not only the money of the communities, but also of the elders, the money of all residents. During this year’s meeting, we decided that we will give all the money to Šakiai Eldership. They will set up a children’s playground, – what will they use the money for, M. Giačas explained.

Egidijus Jurgilas, the elder of Mažonai ward, informed that 8,600 euros have been allocated to the ward. They were divided proportionally among the six communities based on population.

– All communities decided to take care of the buildings. The community of Norkaičiai will organize a parking lot for the disabled in the community premises for the funds received. The community of Vaitimėnai will repair the rain system, the community of Šakvietis will repair the roof of the farm building, the community of Lomių – stairs and a lane for the disabled, the community of Pagramanių decided to manage the gym of the employment and leisure center. The ceiling of the hall needs to be fixed. Last year, the municipality allocated money for the repair of the roof, the council fixed the exterior of the building, the community – the environment. The Sungailiški community decided to replace the rotten wooden windows of the community hall with new ones. The initiatives are beautiful, they will not require costs in the future, the aesthetic condition of the buildings will improve, the elder said.

6,400 EUR allocated to Žygaičiai township will be distributed to ten townships.

– We have allocated the money to clean up public spaces, buy Christmas decorations, the Vizbari community will pave the parking lot, – said elder Lina Baziliauskienė.

Will update decorations

The elder of Batakiai, Kristina Kiršė, was happy that the community will use the allocated money for long-term projects – Christmas decorations will be bought in Batakiai, and Eidintitu community “Santakai” will repair the building of the community house.

– Christmas decorations will be serious, for 1850 euros, they will be hung on electric poles. Eidintitus community has community facilities. The building is insulated, plastered, but not painted, so for the money received, they will paint it by themselves, and we will only buy primer and paint for the facade for 1850 euros, said K. Kiršė.

Skaudvilė elder Gediminas Dinapas was happy that the community’s money is being used responsibly.

– We received exactly 10 thousand euros, which we distributed to four communities. The community “Skaudvilės krastas” has been allocated EUR 4,500, which is planned to be spent on festive decorations and garlands for the Christmas tree. For many years we have heard that we decorate the Christmas tree with old toys, so this year new ones will be bought. Pilsūdai seniority came up with the idea of ​​building a few benches near the children’s playground for 1000 euros, the community of Adakavos wants a pontoon in the pond. They will build it themselves in July, and 2,750 euros are planned for its purchase. The community of Trepai village decided to repair the stairs of the community building for 1750 euros, the elder informed.

Will update the sign and light the street

14,800 euros have been allocated for the implementation of the initiatives of Tauragė ward residents. The most – EUR 4,500 went to the Taurau community “Taurau žiburys”, which will buy new equipment for the children’s playground. Dauglaukis community will renew the concrete village sign for EUR 2,200. At least EUR 450 went to the association of gardeners in Juodpetria “Atžalynas”. The money received will be used to buy a set of tables and benches.

Tauragė city council with the largest population will renew the infrastructure of eight communities for 68 thousand euros. According to elder Žilvinas Majaus, several meetings were held regarding the initiatives proposed by the communities and ideas meeting the needs of all residents were approved.

– In some communities, continuous projects are implemented. I am glad that we were able to find a common agreement. The Jovarai community will buy furniture for the gazebo, we will install a grilling area next to the new path, the Old Town community will continue to maintain the park. We will light up one street in the community of newcomers, the community of Tarailii wants a new track and new stands by the Jūras river, where you can sit and look at the sea, the elder presented the initiatives of the communities.
