VV from Panevėžys received a harsh sentence for possession of a very large amount of amphetamine, cocaine and the distribution of these substances and illegal possession of firearms. Three other persons were sentenced together.

VV Panevėžys, a 57-year-old man with 9 previous convictions, was caught by Panevėžys police officers in May of last year, when he sold cocaine and amphetamine to an apparent acquaintance, 47-year-old KS. The latter, in turn, handed these quacks over to two other Panevezys residents – 37-year-old MK and 28-year-old KR

All four suspects were arrested. After conducting searches, criminalists found almost 105 grams of amphetamine in the common storage room of the apartment building where VV lives. Two pistols, a revolver and 19 cartridges for shooting with these weapons were also found there. VV did not have permission to keep them.

During the search of KR’s person, officers found 0.361 g of cocaine, which he had purchased from KS. Another buyer, MK, had already consumed the purchased amphetamine, but criminal investigators found the narcotic substance – cannabis – in his house.

In this case, the pre-trial investigation was conducted by the officers of the Panevėžys County Chief Police Commissariat’s Criminal Police Organized Crime Investigation Board, and the investigation was led by Mantas Jurkėnas, the prosecutor of the Organized Crime and Corruption Investigation Department of the Panevėžys District Prosecutor’s Office.

The Panevėžys District Court found VV, a 57-year-old resident of Panevėžys, guilty of possession of a very large amount of narcotic and psychotropic substances and their distribution, as well as illegal possession of firearms and ammunition. After recognizing him as a dangerous recidivist, VV was sentenced to 15 years in prison.

KS from Panevėžys was convicted for distribution of narcotic and psychotropic substances. The court sentenced him to a 2-year prison term with intensive supervision, obliged him to work or be registered with the Employment Service and prohibited the use of psychoactive substances.

KR was awarded 2,000 for illegal possession of narcotic and psychotropic substances without the purpose of distributing them. A fine of 800 euros. MK was sentenced to 8 months of imprisonment and 4 thousand for the same crime. A fine of 500 euros.

The judgment may be appealed to the Court of Appeal of Lithuania within 20 days of its announcement.
