An interactive exhibition about the uprising of 1863-1864 opens on Thursday in the Great Courtyard of the Palace of Lords.

The exhibition, prepared in Lithuanian, Polish and English, consists of two parts. In the first part – sixteen stands of the exhibition – the origins of the 1863-1864 uprising, protest actions, armed struggles, the participation of prominent figures and individual social groups, women’s patriotic actions and rebel fashions are presented.

According to the museum, the memories of contemporaries, press reports, archival documents, photographs, and prints are used to reveal the history of the uprising.

In the second part of the exhibition – the interactive pavilion – animated episodes of the uprising are recreated. In this section, the sights and sounds create an immersive narrative and allow visitors to be “transported” to the period of the uprising.

The Lithuanian army orchestra will play at the opening of the exhibition, and the “Kaunas pavietos free shooters” club will perform.

On April 25-26, there will also be an educational zone for children and youth, where participants will be invited to create historical collages or take part in quizzes about the 1863-1864 uprising.

The presentation of the exhibition in Vilnius is organized by the Museum of Polish History, the Polish Embassy in Vilnius, the Polish Institute in Vilnius and the Museum of the Palace of Lords.
