The formation of a German combat brigade in Lithuania will cost about 11 billion. euros. This was stated by a representative of the German Ministry of Defense at a meeting of the Bundestag Defense Committee, several participants of the meeting told the publication “Spiegel”. n-tv.de writes about it.

According to the report, one billion euros is earmarked for annual operating expenses, 4 billion – for the purchase of heavy equipment, such as tanks, and 6 billion – for other investments, such as building infrastructure or buying uniforms.
This amount does not include expenses for payments for service abroad, which are expected to attract 4,800 soldiers and 200 civilians for several years of service in Lithuania.

The brigade, according to Spiegel, will consist of the 122nd Armored Infantry Battalion from Bavaria, the 203rd Tank Battalion from North Rhine-Westphalia and the multinational battle group of the forward forces already in the country.
According to Spiegel, the representative of the ministry in the committee also admitted that many financing issues have not yet been resolved with the Lithuanian government.
Among them are costs for kindergartens and school services for the children of soldiers stationed here, as well as financing the construction of housing.
