Large amounts of drugs were smuggled to Lithuania from the USA, officials announce that they have dismantled a drug distribution network in Vilnius.
As reported by the Customs Criminal Service, a press conference will be held in Vilnius on Thursday, during which the results of the almost year-long pre-trial investigation into the smuggling of large quantities of drugs from the USA will be presented.
Arūnas Ivoška, the head of the Narcotics Control Department of the MKT, and Gedvydas Vaivada, the prosecutor of the 3rd criminal prosecution department of the Vilnius District Prosecutor’s Office, will take part in the conference.
Dozens of searches were conducted during the investigation, which is led by the Vilnius District Prosecutor’s Office.
The smuggled drugs were mainly distributed in Vilnius, where several groups of individuals operated and coordinated their actions.
Officials claim to have encountered a new generation of criminals who do not treat their actions as crimes.
