The Kaunas district court found the work manager of the company “Elektros automatika” guilty of violations of worker safety and health requirements, which led to the death of an employee, fined him, and awarded civil lawsuits.

In the case, the civil lawsuit of the spouse of the deceased was partially satisfied, by which the victim was awarded 40 thousand from the defendant company “Elektros automatika”. non-property damage in the amount of EUR 14.3 thousand. EUR property damage.
The company will also have to compensate 8 thousand. EUR property damage to the Kaunas Territorial Sick Fund, which was incurred while trying to save the victim’s life.
According to the file, in August 2021, during the installation of the security system, outdoor electrical networks and area lighting electrical networks in the electrical panel, the work manager of the company “Elektros automaticika” did not ensure that the employee could not touch live parts with a voltage of 0.4 kV.
When the employee touched them with his finger, the person was affected by electric current and suffered injuries – the effect of technical electric current and died due to complications.
“If the defendant had been sufficiently attentive and careful and had complied with all the requirements set out in the Occupational Safety and Health Act or other legal acts, the accident would not have occurred under the specified circumstances,” stated the judgment of Kaunas District Court Judge Arūnas Purvainis.
KV did not admit guilt in the court of the criminal act charged against him and indicated that the incident in which the victim was killed was caused by the negligence of the deceased himself.
The verdict can be appealed within 20 days.
