In the streets of the old town of Klaipėda, residents noticed a number of soldiers wearing German military uniforms – the Germans came here for military exercises. Since the end of April, several thousand German soldiers and hundreds of units of military equipment have been redeployed to Lithuanian training grounds.
In April-June, the Lithuanian army conducts one of the largest and most intensive cycles of military training exercises, in which over 20,000 soldiers participate. Lithuanian and allied soldiers and there are thousands of units of military equipment.
The people of Klaipėda could also see a lot of German soldiers who came here to perform exercises in the central streets of the city this week.
The townspeople will notice the arriving uniformed men in the port city for some time to come, as the German Bundeswehr’s large-scale exercise “Grand Quadriga 2024” will continue until the end of May at the training grounds of Brigadier General Kazis Veverskis Kazlų Rūda and General Silvestros Žukauskas Pabradė.
About 3 thousand people will participate in the exercise. soldiers and 200 pieces of military equipment will be deployed, including Leopard tanks, Puma and Boxer infantry fighting vehicles.
The exercises of German and Lithuanian soldiers are focused on the redeployment of two divisions from the central European region to the eastern one.
Soldiers from Lithuanian and German battalions will participate in training, planning and conducting operations, and Lithuanians will also learn how to receive soldiers from other countries.
