Such a sentence was announced on Tuesday by the Kaunas District Court, which recognized them as dangerous recidivists.

The murderers will have to pay a total of 95,000 to the five relatives of their victim – mother, children and sister. non-pecuniary damage in the amount of EUR. It is true that the victims asked to be awarded more than 10 times the amount, one million euros.

A carefully planned crime was committed on the evening of January 10, 2023 in the block of private houses in Žaliakalnis: in order to make a profit, the businessman was brutally beaten and then strangled.

Both attackers admitted their guilt during interrogations in court.

In March, during his closing speech, prosecutor Vytautas Gatavecks suggested that N. Narimovs from Kaunas and E. Karinauskas from Jonavis should be given somewhat stricter sentences, after 15 years of imprisonment.

Although the lawyers asked for lighter sentences, the murderers’ past shows that they may commit new crimes: E. Karinauskas was previously convicted of rape, robbery and health impairment of a minor, while N. Narimov was on trial for health impairment.

Made a bad plan

E. Karinauskas and N. Narimovs knew a man from Kaunas, who was engaged in trade in construction tools.

On January 10, 2023, the businessman was strangled in a secluded block of private houses in Žaliakalnis.

According to the investigators, criminals with blood on their hands took his car and money, but they were unmasked after some time.

The man was reported missing for four days before his body was found.

According to the prosecutor’s office, the crime plan was born during one of the meetings, when they saw bundles of banknotes in the wallet of the businessman.

The businessman who lived in Kaunas was offered to buy construction tools, which E. Karinauskas and N. Narimovs promised to bring to a rather secluded property on Liškiavas street late in the winter evening.

It is suspected that the location was not chosen by chance, as its owners did not live there.

Gone with the victim’s car

The attack was carefully prepared – the attackers also provided special scissors in advance, which they used to cut the lock on the gate of this estate.

When the businessman arrived at a private house at the agreed time, he was hit on the head and then strangled.

The perpetrators knew that people do not live permanently on this plot, so the body may not be discovered quickly – there is no way to see it from the street.

According to criminologists, after strangling the victim, the killers left her in someone else’s property and disappeared after stealing her car, three phones and money.

They ran into a tree

The criminals hoped that the businessman would bring a large sum, but the latter had only taken a few hundred euros.

After the murder, both thugs, while driving the victim’s Opel Zafira, got into an accident in a wooded area in the Neveronii district (Kaunas district) – the out-of-control vehicle crashed into a tree on a slippery road.

The partners called an acquaintance who brought them to the house.

The wrecked vehicle left in the forest was discovered by a local resident after some time. He immediately reported the discovery to the police.

The body was found 4 days later

Four days after the crime, on January 14, 2023, the victim’s remains were discovered by the owner of the plot on Liškiavas street, who comes from time to time to take care of the property.

The police and the prosecutor’s office worked intensively for several weeks until they managed to identify the suspects.

During the interrogation during the pre-trial investigation, N. Narimov confirmed that he strangled the victim together with an accomplice, but denied that his actions led to the death of the assailant.

Meanwhile, E. Karinauskas fully admitted his guilt even before the case was brought to court.

Both of them have already admitted their guilt in court, stating that they are sorry for the crime committed.
