The 20th anniversary of Lithuania’s membership in NATO was mentioned

It was even on Friday 20 years since Lithuania was part of NATO. The anniversary was celebrated at an event near the municipality of Tauragė district, with the participation of soldiers of the Kęstutis battalion and representatives of the rifle union.

Lithuania became a member of NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization) exactly 20 years ago, in 2004. on March 29. The whole of Lithuania celebrates this occasion, various events are organized. The celebration was also organized near the Tauragė district municipality administration building.

During the event, after the soldiers of the infantry battalion of the Grand Duke Kęstutis of Lithuania, the 307th light infantry company of the 3rd platoon of the Žemaičiai district of KASP, Tauragė 307 light infantry company, the representatives of the Lithuanian Rifle Association, the young shooters, watched by the gathered spectators, the Lithuanian flag was raised. The orchestra of the Tauragė Art School performed the Lithuanian national anthem. Later, the NATO flag flew near the municipality.

Tauragė district mayor Dovydas Kaminskas, Seimas member Romualdas Vaitkus, and Kęstučis battalion commander Major Donatas Blažys gave words of welcome to those present. Reserve Major Kęstutis Bauža, the commander of the 7th national team of the LDK Kęstutis Riflemen, also congratulated those gathered for a short time.

On this occasion, an impressive event took place in the capital, where allied fighter jets flew over S.Daukant Square. A scheduled helicopter show was canceled due to bad weather.

Currently, NATO unites 32 allies and is considered the most powerful defense alliance.
