Many problems

Recently, the National Education Agency has received a lot of criticism regarding mid-term examinations for eleventh graders.

This year, with the first introduction of the compulsory test of knowledge in the eleventh grade, the evaluations of which will be an integral part of the results of the matriculation exams, there was outrage in the public because of the too sticky and complex B-level physics and mathematics tasks, and educators previously complained that they did not have time to prepare for the process itself.

The Minister of Education, Science and Sports Gintautas Jakštas, who received criticism for this, submitted his resignation to Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonyta, but she did not accept it.

A special commission convened by the Ministry of Education, Science and Sports (MSMS) assessed that the physics midterm examination task is in line with the physics general education program, but it is more complicated than the requirements, and it contained incorrectly formulated questions that could mislead students. Taking into account the conclusions of the commission, the evaluations of the task will be reviewed and adjusted.

According to the minister, consideration is being given to allowing eleventh-graders to retake intermediate examinations this year.
